The Kingdom of the Rising Winds is a consortium of several parks in the midwest and Great Lakes regions.
The Lands of the Rising Winds was founded in the summer of 1998 when two established but warring Shires, Windmoor Crossing and Lyon’s Tomb, allied together under a banner of peace and friendship. This unprecedented union formed a new government, ruled by men and women drawn from the populace of the (now) many Shires currently growing under its protective shadow. Thus, with the gracious aid and sponsorship of the Kingdom of the Emerald Hills, was born the Barony of the Rising Winds, an independent freehold of Amtgardia nestled firmly in the barbaric wastes of the Midwest. Since the alliance of the two Shires and the addition of several more, the then Barony grew into a Duchy which quickly swelled to over 175 people registered on the books. After much hard work and effort from all her peoples, the Rising Winds was granted Kingdom status by a unanimous vote of the Circle of Monarchs and the Burning Lands Board of Directors at the 20th Gathering of the Clans, July 2002.
We now average between 200 and 300 people per major event depending on the weather and each park averages between 15 and 50 people each week for regular play.
We believe that Amtgard is more than just fighting and would like to invite everyone who is interested in any aspect of the game to contact us. There's a niche for everyone in this game, and we encourage everyone to find it. The most common reason for not joining the game is, "I can't fight." That's ok, there's a wealth of other things to do and still be an active part of the game. Besides that, some of the best fighters in the game are people who once said, "I can't fight." The very worst that can happen is you'll have a good time.

Located at the center of the Rising Winds, Gryphon's Perch meets on Sundays at Paul Ruster Park starting between the times of 12 noon and 1 PM. We usually play until the sun sets. Come on out, all are welcome!

The park here in Valparaiso is called "Crusader's Cove". We meet at Forest Park in Valpariso, Indiana. The park is Located at the corner of Campbell st. and Harrrison blvd. We normally meet at the first pavillion as you come up Harrison. We meet every saturday rain or shine, clouds or snow, dragon or phagus; around noon. We end when we damn well feel like it. Or when everybody leaves.
Come to a land torn apart and ravaged by monsters. See the drow staring at you from the shadows. Horticulture park --- west end of Purdue campus just beyond Purdue west shopping center. North of Purdue airport. On McCormick Rd. (McCormick is called Airport Rd. south of State Rd. 26)
Starting September 7, 2002 we have an alternate meeting location in times of inclimate wheather. It is the South Tower in the Purdue Memorial Union. Come in on State St. as before but turn right on Grant St. This is the very edge of campus vs city. In a couple hundred feet you should see a gold and black awning on your left. To the right there is a parking garage. The parking is free on weekends but you have to get a ticket anyway. If you've gone to a stoplight good luck cause that's too far and Grant is a one way street.
